World Usability Congress 2023
Here are some highlights of the WUC: inspiring talks, conference and speaker experience:
The WUC talks
Dominique Winter, OBI next / Die Produktwerker eG, Product Development Coach
Dominique talked about ‘Development and application of UX visions for goal-oriented experience design’. Not all UX factors are equally important for every products. Therefore, you start with card sorting and role play to define your product vision. Then you define goals for your product vision with the UEQ questionnaire and estimate the impact of a UX factor on the user story. The goal is to implement UX controlling by continuous measurement of these UX factors.
Amol Kadam, Red Blue Blur Ideas, Co-Founder
Amol asked the question ‘AI – Will UX die or be reborn?’ He demonstrated practical design tasks he gave AI tools, from logo and icon creation to designing a complete e-commerce shop. He gave us an excellent overview of AI tools for different stages of the UX design process. His conclusion is: "AI won’t replace the designer, but the designer with AI will replace the designer without AI."
Jaime Levy, Jaime Levy Consulting, UX strategist and author of ‘UX Strategy’
Jaime walked us through ‘The best and worst practices of the discovery phase’. She illustrated the discovery process with the example of looking for a flat in Berlin and went through the competitive research, workshops, prototyping, strategy & critical thinking stages of her flat hunt.
Jen Romano, UXR Coach, UX Strategy Workshop
Sara Mastro (Perceptronics Solutions, VP Operations and Product Management & UXPA International President), Russ Wilson (Head Of Design, Fidelity Investments) and I were invited to be judges in Jen's workshop. We, the three judges, had the honour to give feedback on the workshop participants’ solutions to research challenges and select the winner. That was very inspiring and a lot of fun!
The WUC experience
The conference evenings with dinner and the speaker experience tour were amazing. It was lovely to meet old and new UX friends: Hannes Robier, Jen Romano, Kerstin Roese, Russ Wilson, Sara Mastro, Sascha Wolter, Dominque Winter, Verena Seibert-Giller, and many more!
That was anything but boring.... :)
World Usability Congress 2022
Key note speech from Russ Wilson about what makes a design leader and what he learned from his mentors:
Great to meet fellow UX veterans; some of them I know for decades. Here I am pictured with Kerstin Roese, Robert Pucher, Julia Klammer:
Jennifer Romano, Russ Wilson, Clemens Lutsch, Klaus Hofer, Joe Lanzisero were knighted because of their outstanding contributions to UX. Of course, Hannes Robier is our meta knight! Easily to see because he is in full knight's gear:
We were spoiled. Some of the (many) hightlights were the knights' dinner with honey wine and Hannes Robier preparing Styrian breakfast for us:
Lots of fun with UX friends and the WUC family:
